The 79th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Wednesday 27th April 1887 over the Rowley Mile, was Enterprise (2/1 fav), a chestnut colt by Sterling out of King Alfred, owned by Mr Douglas Baird. The winner won by 1/2 a length in 1 minute 45.60 secs, with a further half length back to the third. A field of 8 runners contested the race which was worth £3,550 (Equivalent to £426,000 in 2017)
